The original recipe for 1817
A Monk names William started to make Monks candy by mixing menthol and eucalyptus in order to help the monks suffering from various seasonal diseases in English monasteries.
The taste and efficacy of Monks candy were so good and people started to looking for the candies even outside of the monastery. With time, it became more and more popular. Italian confectionery company Akellas started to produce Monks candy by using the traditional recipe of Monk William in Italy and it became a worldwide well-known brand.
